ACTA ZOOLÓGICA MEXICANA was created in 1955 by a group of scientists from the Escuela Nacional de Ciencias Biológicas of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional. By 1966 it became a publication of the Museo de Historia Natural de la Ciudad de México.

In 1984 the Instituto de Ecología A. C. took over the responsibility of its edition and named it ACTA ZOOLÓGICA MEXICANA (new series).  From 1984 to 2008, 105 uninterrupted numbers, available in digital format on the journal’s homepage (www.inecol.edu.mx/azm), have been published.

By 2004, to celebrate its 20 years of life, the journal’s format was changed starting from that point with Volume 20, each volume containing three numbers per year which appear in April, August and December.

ACTA ZOOLÓGICA MEXICANA (new series) is a quatrimestral periodical journal, that publishes original results on terrestrial fauna research. The journal belongs to CONACYT mexican journals and Biological Abstracts, Zoological Records, Commonwealth Agriculture Bureau Abstracts, British Library, Library of Congress, Bibliothèque du Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle de France, Latindex, Índice Latinoamericano y del Caribe, Periodica and Serieunam, among other indexes.

We extend a cordial invitation for you to send research results for publication, to become subscribers, and/or to consult the journal in its printed or electronic format.
